Club Activities

People wishing to attend club meets should book a place with the meets organizer on the Wednesday preceding the meet. Some of the meets are held in small huts, so places may be limited, the club operates a first-come first-served policy.

Meets during the colder half of the year are usually held in huts in Snowdonia or the Lake District. In addition to this the CMC's hut in Wales is reserved for members use on one weekend per month. And members can pre-book the hut for use at any time.

During the summer we often camp and these meets are sometimes arranged at short notice depending upon the weather. Because of the fickle nature of the British climate much of members activity is arranged informally and at short notice with the club acting as a focal point.

Trips further afield have been popular, with mountaineering and sport climbing excursions to France, Spain, the Alps, the Mediterranean and the U.S. Rockies. Scotland is a popular destination with club members. There are usually several trips arranged to the Highlands every year. New members may be unfamiliar with the equipment used by climbers and walkers. If this is so one should seek advice and aquire the necessary gear before attending a meet. If in doubt there is usually friendly advice on offer on a Wednesday evening.
